Lucan Shotokan Karate
*** Monday Memories *** 2016 Shotokan Cup (images courtesy of USKFI) Please hand in your completed competition forms for the 2017 cup as soon as possible.
*** Sunday Class – Report *** This morning’s warm exercises featured a floor thrust kick which is a test of hips, leg flexibility and foot control. It’s a while since this exercise was last performed in class and many of the junior belts performed well considering it was their first attempt. The floor work was a short run through half step gyaku tsuki punches before diving straight into partner work. The brown and black belts worked on defensive block / chase attacks and Mawashi-geri kicks. Junior grades worked on a block/kick combination. For kata the students were separated according to grade. The black belts were then assigned a grade and worked with the students on their grading kata. *** Advance Notice: Early Kata Monday *** Early kata will be Unsu for black belts. Be in the hall and warmed up by 17:20 *** Competition Forms *** Please submit your completed competition forms for the Shotokan Cup as soon as possible. Organising events is a smoother process when we have the list of entrants completed as soon as possible.
*** Thursday Class – Heads-up *** Remember - our new fee structure is in place. The cost per class is €6 regardless of age. Grading for white to green belts is just over a month away - it’s time to step up a level in training. Bring your mitts and water. Be in the hall at least 5 minutes before class start time. We look forward to seeing you!
No rest for Team Ireland!

Foxborough Estate Lucan
Foxborough Walk residents have been in touch asking us to share their dismay and disappointment with the current condition of their open space/green. This area is a fantastic facility for all residents but sadly due to ongoing dumping and the recent burning of household waste it is becoming unusable. All residents please keep all your household waste secure (especially large items) and report all dumping to SDCC on 01-4149000. Thank you.
Unfortunately we have had two other reports of shed break-ins and one house break-in around the Foxborough Road and Drive area. The Gardai are aware and we continue to urge all our residents to secure their property at all times. Please report all incidents to Ronanstown garda station on 01 666 7700. Thank you.
Unfortunately we have had a report of a break-in in the Foxborough crescent area this morning. Please ensure all doors/ windows are secure and report any incidents to Ronanstown Garda station. Thank you.
We would like to express our appreciation to local creche Happy Tots based in Foxborough Lawns for their contribution towards some new equipment and seaonal flower bedding. Thank you! Also, local resident Francis Long will be out on Saturday morning @ 11am cleaning up the footpath from Foxborough Lawns to the Foxborough Road, if anyone could spare an hour to help him he would be very grateful.
