Foxborough Estate Lucan
Our dedicated resident Brian has said he would be happy to replicate this beautiful job at the other namestones if we could find volunteers who would help maintain them. Two or three volunteers per namestone to water and weed occasionally would be all that would be required. It would be fantastic to get this going and would really add to our Estate. Please let us know if you are interested in the comments section and we can get organising ASAP👍
Stephen will be out again at 12 today to start the other side of the road. Please pop along for whatever time you have to spare to help him out. The more volunteers we have the easier and quicker things get done. We all benefit as residents👍
More amazing work going on in Foxborough yesterday evening. Thank you Stephen and Ian for this great edging job. It makes such a difference. A special word of thanks to @Smith & Branigan Ltd who helped us buy some much needed tools and flower bedding this week. Greatly appreciated👏

Lucan Shotokan Karate
*** Monday Class – Report *** This evenings class was conducted in testing conditions. The hall was probably a few degrees cooler than the surface of the Sun, but it didn’t feel that way. The early kata was Gangaku. Although this appeared to flow nicely, it is the longest kata faced by many of our black belts students to date. In fact, it is so long that Sensei Sherlock only had enough time to take the class up to the first kiai. If you are a black belt we recommend that you try and make it for the early kata session on Monday's. It is the next best thing to having a one on one class with Sensei Sherlock. The warm up floor work made allowances for the high temperatures this evening, with some light blocking and kicking combinations. Then it was straight into partner work to put the combinations into practice. Age uke / mae geri, age uke / yoko Geri Kekomi, and soto uke / mawashi geri were all employed as a block / counter to an attack. For black belts an extra double oi-zuki attack was added. Each punch to be blocked and then countered with a kick in continuous fluid movements. For the kata section of class, the black belts repeated as much of Gangaku as they could remember from the early session. The final few minutes of class were spent warming down. We urge all students to bring water to class. Hydration is always important, but in weather like this evening’s it is critical to have an intake of fluids throughout class.
*** Monday Class - heads-up *** Early Kata Black belts who wish to take advantage of the free Kata session before class, should be in the hall and warmed up by 5:30 Punctuality Make sure you are in the hall at least 5 minutes before the start of class otherwise you may be turned away. As always, bring water and your mitts to class.
