A special LEINSTER LOOP "THANK YOU" cycle takes place in St. Laurence's, Oldgrange, Narraghmore, Co. Kildare, R14 CX28 next Sunday 21st January 2018 for all Volunteers, Sponsors and Supporters! (It's FREE!) Last weeks spin was cancelled due to bad weather conditions - the weather is to be good next Sunday!!! The THANK YOU cycle will consist of a 25km & 50km spin leaving St. Laurence's at 11am sharp. There will also be formal cheque presentation to the Chairperson of St. Laurence’s Community Complex at 1pm on the day. Hope to see you all there…. Congratulations BRENDAN TALLON of St. Laurence’s & Leinster Loop fame on being appointed to the Board of Directors of Cycling Ireland at the 2017 Cycling Ireland AGM. Brendan Tallon is heavily involved in The Leinster Loop run from St. Laurence’s Community Complex each year and has helped to make it one of Ireland’s Premier Charity Cycle Sportive, nominated as Cycling Ireland’s best leisure event in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. It is run on a completely voluntary basis and all funds raised go to Breast Cancer Research and our very own St. Laurence's Community Complex. St. Laurence’s GAA ‘LIGHTS UP’ for OPERATION TRANSFORMATION 2018 St. Laurence’s GAA are delighted to announce that will be ‘LIGHTING UP’ for OPERATION TRANSFORMATION 2018, utilising our Flood Lit dedicated 0.75kM walking /jogging / running track around our GAA pitches. Each Monday, Wednesday & Friday, club and community members will be invited to come together at St. Laurence’s GAA to walk off the Christmas excess, catch up with their neighbours, and banish the winter blues [Walking is proven to benefit both our physical and mental health]. Our Pitch Floodlights will be lit up from 7PM-9PM in order to facilitate this. All abilities welcome and there will be a dedicated team of walking leaders that will be on hand if you want advice on setting targets or objectives. Registration is required, with a cost of just €5 per week [€25 ONLY if paid up front] per registered participant [kids FREE] to cover the cost of the lights over the 6 week programme as Operation Transformation returns to our screens. First Registration with Introduction + Launch Night is MONDAY 15th JANUARY 2018 @ 7:00PM in St. Laurence’s Community Complex. FIRST WEIGH-IN MONDAY 15th JANUARY 2018 from 7:00PM FINAL WEIGH-IN MONDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2018 from 7:00PM Weigh-ins for WOMEN will be carried out in a private ladies dressing room in the St. Laurence’s Community Complex by women only, in a private and confidential manner. Body weight and fat content will be measured. All data gathered will be kept in the strictest of confidence at all times. Weigh-ins for MEN will be carried out in a private mens dressing room in the St. Laurence’s Community Complex by men only, in a private and confidential manner. Body weight and fat content will be measured. All data gathered will be kept in the strictest of confidence at all times. Please make sure to have your walking gear on with bright hi-viz vest/clothing at all times when walking in St. Laurence’s GAA Club. Teas & Coffees in the Community Complex Bar ONLY €1 each from 7PM-10PM every Monday, Wednesday & Friday during the 6 week programme. Please spread the word to your friends and family and invite them to take part with us. This is an initiative between the ‘GAA’, ‘RTE’s Operation Transformation 2018’ and ‘Get Ireland Walking’ in which they are seeking to bring together communities across the 32 counties to enjoy healthy walks in the safe, bright, environs of their local GAA clubs. St. Laurence’s GAA Club is a signed up and registered member of this initiative as part of our GAA Healthy Club policy.
